SALT LAKE CITY - The University of Utah women's tennis team has added transfer Missy Harris to its 2009-10 roster, head coach Mat Iandolo announced Friday. Harris was a first-team all-Big Sky Conference selection at Montana State as a freshman last year.
"I originally recruited Missy two years ago when I first arrived at Utah," said Iandolo. "So I have always valued what she can bring to our program. I am thrilled to have her joining us this year."
A native of Billings, Mont., Harris compiled a 15-2 overall record and a 7-1 league mark, playing at the No. 2 singles position. Harris also in the No. 1 and 2 doubles spots where she went 8-1 overall.
Harris was a four-time Montana class AA state, posting an unbeaten 73-0 record in high school. She joins Salt Lake City native Paige Miles to form Utah's 2009 signing class. Miles was also undefeated in high school at 72-0, capturing the class 3A Utah state title four times.
Harris and Miles recently met in the finals of an ITA Summer Circuit event, each winning two matches against regional opponents to reach the finals. Miles defeated her future teammate, 6-1, 6-0, to capture the event singles title. She then went on to win the doubles event as well, teaming with Erin Sanders of Colorado.
