SALT LAKE CITY- University of Utah men's tennis players Phillip Eilers and Wes Hancock will head to Tulsa, Okla. Wednesday to play in ITA All-American Singles National Championship qualifying.
"It is a great opportunity for Wes and Phillip to measure themselves against the best players in the nation at the ITA All-American Championships," said Assistant Coach Roeland Brateanu. "I am looking forward to seeing them compete and play some tough competition."
Qualifying play begins Oct. 3. Main draw play will begin on Oct. 9, should Eilers or Hancock advance through qualifying. The tournament will be held at the Michael D. Case Tennis center on the University of Tulsa campus.
Eilers participated in this even last year, recording a victory against No. 62 Roy Sichel of Charlotte, 6-4, 6-1. This year will mark Hancock's first appearance in this event.
