PROVO, Utah- The University of Utah women's tennis doubles team of Erin Monson and Anastasia Putilina reached the finals of the BYU Invitational before falling to Boise State's Lauren Megale and Klaudia Wlodarczyk, 8-1 Saturday. The doubles final wrapped up Utah's first tournament of the season.
"It was a good first tournament for the team," said head coach Mat Iandolo. "The play didn't go as well as we would have like in the doubles final, but we had a strong overall first performance to get the fall season underway."
Earlier in the tournament Freshman Lisa Johnson won the singles flight B championships. Utah saw singles players Andrea Maughan, Leigh Walsh, Dee Dee Nelson and the doubles team of Julie Tukuafu and Maughan make it as far as the quarterfinals and singles players Putilina and Tukuafu advanced semifinals.
The Utes next action will be at the Boise State Invitational taking place October 3-5 in Boise, Idaho.
