SALT LAKE CITY - The University of Utah women's tennis team opens its fall season at the the BYU Invitational Thursday in Provo, Utah. The event will be played from Sept. 18-20 and will feature players from seven squads in the region.
"I want to see a great competitive team attitude established," said head coach Mat Iandolo. "I am really excited about the new players we have added to the squad. It is early but I think we have a chance to play some good tennis and get off to a strong start"
Nine of Utah's 11 active players will be competing in both singles and doubles in this event. Sophomore Evgenia Kryuchkova will be playing doubles only while rehabbing from an injury suffered in the spring. Freshman Lexi Provancha will not participate in this weekend's event.
Three other Mountain West Conference teams will be represented at the Invitational: Colorado State, Air Force and BYU. Non-conference teams playing include Boise State, Utah State, and Weber State.
Play begins at approximately 10 a.m. MT Thursday.
