SALT LAKE CITY - The Mountain West Conference released the schedule for the 2008 Men's Tennis Championships that is to be held April 24-26 in Fort Worth, Texas. TCU, New Mexico, and Utah all received a share of the regular season conference title with 5-1 records. The tie breaker was determined by each team's overall rankings given by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA). The 36-th ranked Horned Frogs (18-6 overall) earned the No. 1 seed, the 48-th ranked Lobos (18-7 overall) earned the No. 2 seed after defeating 64-th ranked and third-seeded Utah (13-9 overall).
Action at the 2008 MWC Championship gets underway Thursday, April 24, with No. 3 Utah and No. 6 San Diego State taking the court at 10 a.m., followed by No. 2 New Mexico vs. No. 8 Air Force at 1 p.m. and No. 4 UNLV vs. No. 5 BYU at 4 p.m. The top-seeded Frogs received a quarterfinal bye and will await the winner of the UNLV/BYU match. Semifinal contests will be played at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. on Friday, April 25, with the championship match set for 10 a.m. on Saturday, April 26. All times reflect Central Daylight Time.
The MWC Championship will be held at the Bayard H. Friedman Tennis Center on TCU's campus. Quarterfinal action begins Thursday, April 24, with semifinals on Friday, April 25 and the championship on Saturday, April 26.
