SALT LAKE CITY - The University of Utah women's tennis team will send Erin Monson and Anastasia Putilina to the ASU Invitational taking place November 7-9 in Tempe, Ariz. This will be the final action for the women's tennis team until the dual match season begins in late January.
"[The ASU Invitational] is going to be some of the best if not the best competition so far this season," said head coach Mat Iandolo. " It'll help us determine what stage we are at. Anastasia and Erin have played well this year and are looking to have a great tournament."
As a doubles team Monson and Putilina have a record 6-2 overall for the fall season. They were 3-1 at the BYU Invitational in Provo falling only in the finals, a perfect 3-0 at the Jack Taylor Invitational on Boise, and 0-1 at the ITA Central Region Championships here in Salt Lake City.
Individually Putilina has a singles record of 5-4, while Monson's record is 3-5. Monson had a great run at the ITA Central Regionals making it to the round of 16 in main draw play. Putilina made a strong first showing as a Ute at the BYU Invitational going 4-1 to reach the semifinals.
