BOISE, Idaho- The University of Utah women's tennis team completed the final day of play in Boise at the Jack Taylor Invitational Sunday. The doubles team of Erin Monson and Anastasia Putilina kept up their winning streak by defeating Marina Nicholas and Jessica Gomez from Washington State, 8-3. They finish at 3-0 for the tournament and are 7-1 overall this season.
The team of Lexi Provancha and Andrea Maughan pulled off an 8-6 win over WSU's Elisabeth Fournier and Aleksandra Cekic. The duo Leigh Walsh and Lisa Johnson were unable to overcome opponents from WSU, while the team of Julie Tukuafu and Karine Bourdages could not top players from New Mexico.
In singles play four Utes were successful against UNM opponents. Maughan won against Victoria Tessmar, 6-4, 6-3. Johnson defeated Anya Villanueva-Forte, 6-4, 6-4. Bourdages duked it out with Manumea Durie in a three set match, winning it 5-7, 6-2, 10-8. Tukuafu topped Jessica Gardejford, 6-2, 6-0.
The Utes next action will be in the ITA Central Regional Championships hosted by the University of Utah at the George S. Eccles Tennis Center. The tournament will be held October 15-19.
