SALT LAKE CITY- Andrea Maughan of the University of Utah women's tennis team fell in the consolation semifinals at the Wilson/ITA Central Region Tournament in Salt Lake City Saturday. Maughan was the last remaining Ute in the tournament.
"I feel like this was an overall good learning experience for the team," said head coach Mat Iandolo. "I was impressed with how we did as the host institution for a tournament of this magnitude. It was good to have a tournament of this size on our campus. We learned a lot about what we need to work on for the dual match season, which begins in late January."
In the semifinals, Maughan battled Melissa Esposito of Colorado in a two set match with a super tie breaker. Esposito took the first set 7-5, but Maughan fought back in the second to win 6-3. She then fell in the supertie breaker 10-1.
