SALT LAKE CITY - The University of Utah women's tennis team host to the ITA Central Region Championships October 15-19. Play will begin Wednesday at 8 a.m. in the George S. Eccles Tennis Center.
Ute Anastasia Putilina will head into the tournament a top 16 seed in singles play and a top four seed in doubles with her partner Erin Monson.
"We are really excited to host the ITA Central Region Championship tournament," said head coach Mat Iandolo. "It gives our players a great opportunity to play at a top level on our home court. We hope that all the teams we are hosting have a great time playing in our wonderful facilities."
The singles and doubles winners along with the singles finalist will advance to the ITA National Indoor Championships next month. They will be hosted by the University of Virginia Nov. 6-9. Winners and finalists from the various ITA Regional Championships around the country, plus at-large selections, will make up the singles field of 32 and the 16-team doubles draw.
The tournament will showcase players from Air Force, Arkansas, Boise State, BYU, Colorado State, Iowa, Kansas, Kansas State, Montana State, Nebraska, New Mexico, New Mexico State, Northern Colorado, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, St. Louis, Tulsa, Utah, Weber State, Wichita State and Wyoming.
