Utah Men's Tennis Heads To ITA Mountain Region Championships

SALT LAKE CITY- The University of Utah men's tennis team will compete in the 2008 Wilson/ITA Mountain Regional Tournament, Oct. 15-19 in Las Vegas, Nev. The Tournament will be hosted by UNLV and will be played at the Darling Tennis Center. Play begins at 8:00 a.m. Wednesday morning.
The singles and doubles winners along with the singles finalist will advance to the ITA National Indoor Championships at the University of Virginia Nov. 6-9. Winners and finalists from the various ITA Regional Championships around the country plus at-large selections will make up the singles field of 32 and the 16-team doubles draw at the elite event.
Last year, John Taylor advanced to the doubles semifinals with teammate Zach Ganger before falling to Max Jones and Kamil Pajkowski of New Mexico, 9-7. The doubles team of Jason Smits and Othman Zerouali-Ouariti advanced to the third round of consolation doubles before being defeated by Jim Brouleau and Gustave Diep of New Mexico State, 8-6.
