SALT LAKE CITY - The University of Utah swimming and diving teams have 28 student-athletes on the Mountain West Conference Spring Academic All-Conference Team.
On the men's team, 15 student-athletes were honored. They are: Matthew Bailey (Senior, Business), John Baque (Freshman, Undeclared), Todd Bradley (Freshman, Undeclared), Todd Bradley (Freshman, Undeclared), Jeremy Clark (Senior, Health Education/Speech Communication), Michel DeCarolis (Junior, Business), Bryan Edmunds (Freshman, Engineering), Marco Ferraro (Sophomore, Business), Tanner Folster (Junior, Biology), Andrew Jones (Senior, Exercise and Sport Science), William Leonhart (Freshman, Undeclared), David Maasberg (Senior, Psychology) Adam Oliver (Sophomore, Business), Garrett Peterson (Freshman, Undeclared) and Nicholas Philpot (Junior, Chemistry) were all recognized by the conference.
Thirteen student-athletes were recognized from the women's team. They are: Anna Braskiewicz (Sophomore, Business), Adrienne Coburn (Junior, Elementary Education), Jennifer Fredsall (Sophomore, Computer Science), Elizabeth Gunderson (Freshman, Undeclared), Melissa Helmers (Junior, Mass Communication), Kathryn Maasberg (Freshman, Biology), Raquel MacArthur (Senior, Biology), Marissa Martin (Senior, Human Development and Family Studies), Alison McInturff (Senior, Biology), Karly Roberts (Freshman, Undeclared), Jennifer Trescott (Sophomore, Sociology/International Studies), Annie Van Leeuwen (Freshman, Undeclared) and Amber Walter (Senior, Biology).
To be eligible for selection to the Academic All-Mountain West Conference team, student-athletes must have completed at least one academic term at the member institution while maintaining a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or better, and be a starter or significant contributor on their athletic team.
In all, Utah had 83 student-athletes recognized on the Spring Academic All-Mountain West Conference team. The spring team included baseball, softball, men's basketball, women's basketball, men's tennis, women's tennis, men's golf, men's swimming and diving, women's swimming and diving and women's track and field.
In addition, Andrew Brown, Bryan Edmunds, Marco Ferraro, Tanner Folster, Adam Oliver, Nick Philpot, Anna Braszkiewicz, Adrienne Coburn, Jennifer Fredsall, Heidi Goedhart, Kathryn Maasberg, Marissa Martin, Karly Roberts, Barbara Silva, Jennifer Trescott and Lisa Wight were MWC Scholar Athletes. To be eligible for selection student-athletes must have completed at least two academic terms at the member institution, while maintaining a cumulative grade point average of 3.5 or better, and have participated in varsity competition for their athletic team.
