Athens, Ga. - Zach Ganger (49) from the University of Utah men's tennis team competed in the first round of the 2007 NCAA Division I Tennis Championships on Wednesday against Harel Srugo (29) from Old Dominion. Srugo overtook the Ute after three strenuous sets (4-6, 6-4, 6-0) for the win and advancement into the Round of 32 to be held on Thursday.
Ganger, a junior, held strong against Srugo in the first set to take the set 6-4 over the Monarch. With the hype, Ganger continued to play a stong and level game with Srugo right on his heels. The Monarch ended up striding past the Ute in the second set 6-4 to tie the match up. The tie-breaker proved challenging to Ganger. The Ute played hard, however the score isn't able to reflect it. Srugo dominated the third set over Ganger, not letting him win one game. The Monarch took the match 4-6, 6-4, 6-0 to advance into Thursday's Round of 32 of the 2007 NCAA Tennis Championships. Ganger ends his single season with a 27-12 record.
