Utah went on a 14-3 run midway through the first half that lasted 5 minutes, 40 seconds and turned a three-point lead into a 22-8 advantage with 6:15 left in the half.
TCU answered back with a 10-0 run to close the gap to 22-18 with 4:08 left, the run was just 1 minute, 27 seconds.
TCU took its first lead of the game since the score was 2-0, with a 9-0 run over 2:18. The run was sparked by six consecutive points from Helen Roden, while Ashley Davis' three-pointer put the Lady Frogs ahead 61-60 with 5:01 remaining in the second half.
Kalee Whipple set a new tournament record for a freshman by making 9 of 10 free throws from the line (90 percent), which also ties for ninth-best all-time in the tournament as well.
Utah shot 6-of-12 from three-point range for 50 percent, which is tied for the fourth-best mark in tournament history, while its overall field-goal percentage of 54.8 percent (23-of-42) ranks fifth.
