SAN DIEGO, CALIF. - The University of Utah men's tennis team (72) defeated the UNLV Rebels on Saturday for a 4-3 win at the Aztec Tennis Center.

Utah's doubles teams came back on Saturday rejuvenated and ready for the Rebels. Zach Ganger and Miron Mann fought hard at the No. 1 slot against Elliot Wronski and Brett Hunter for a 9-8(4) win. At the No. 2 slot, Wesley Burrows and Jonathan Hooper from UNLV overcame Jason Smits and Othman Zerouali-Ouariti 8-3. Finishing out doubles play for the Utes, Wes Hancock and Timmy Allin faced David Campbell and Slavko Bijelica at the No. 3 slot. The Ute duo smashed an 8-4 win over the Rebels to give the Utes the doubles point.

In singles play, No. 51 Ganger got back into his groove to defeat No. 59 Elliot Wronski at the top spot 6-2, 6-4. At the No. 6 slot, Luca Barlocchi defeated Utah freshman Allin 6-3, 6-2. Zerouali-Ouariti stepped in at the No. 5 slot to finish off David Campbell 6-3, 6-4 to edge Utah to a 3-1 advantage.

At the No. 4 slot, Smits faced Slavko Bijelica from the Rebels. The Ute put up a fight, but the Rebel forced a 7-5, 6-4 win over the Ute freshman. With the overall score 3-2 in Utah's favor, Mann and Hancock were battling hard against their opponents to ensure a win for the Utes.

Hancock was battling Wesley Burrows from UNLV at the No. 3 slot. The Ute took the first set 6-4 only to be overcame in the second set 6-2. Burrows narrowed in to take the win from Hancock in the tie breaker for a match score of 4-6, 6-2, 6-3.

With the match tied up at 3-3, it was up to Mann to clinch the victory for the Utes. After losing the first set to Brett Hunter 6-4, the Ute junior stepped up his game to kick the Rebel to the curb. Mann smashed a glorious 4-6, 6-2, 6-3 win over Hunter to give the Utes the overall win 4-3.
