SAN DIEGO, Calif. - The University of Utah men's tennis team played Dartmouth College on Sunday for a 6-1 win over the Big Greens.
The Utes swept the doubles competition at every position for the second day in a row. No. 43 Zach Ganger and Miron Mann defeated David Waslen and Daniel Freeman of Dartmouth 8-6 at the No. 1 slot. Stepping in at the No. 2 slot, Othman Zerouali-Ouariti and Jason Smits smashed an 8-4 win over Steven McGaughey and Jeffrey Schechtman. Finishing up doubles play for the Utes, Wes Hancock and Timmy Allin defeated Ari Gayer and Justin Tzou 8-6.
In singles play, No. 55 Zach Ganger got the Utes going with a 6-4, 3-6, 6-4 win over David Waslen. Miron Mann played at the No. 2 slot for a 6-3, 6-2 match victory over Daniel Freeman from the Big Greens to give Utah a 3-0 advantage.
Freshman Othman Zerouali-Ouariti defeated Justin Tzou 7-5, 6-0 at the No. 4 slot. Jason Smits stepped in at the No. 5 slot to face Steven McGaughey from Dartmouth. The Ute lost the first set 3-6, but came back to take the win from the Big Green 3-6, 7-5, 6-2. Finishing up for the Utes was Timmy Allin at the No. 6 slot. Playing Jeff Friedman from Dartmouth, the Ute took the match 6-4, 3-6, 6-2.
