Three Event Winners Highlight Track Showing This Weekend.

POCATELLO, Idaho - The road to the Mountain West Conference championships continues for the University of Utah track and field team as it came off of a solid showing at the Friday Night Duals in Pocatello, Idaho, last night.

Three first-place showings highlight the Ute effort this weekend. Lauren Endersen chalked up her first-ever collegiate win as she claimed the victory in the 3000m with an impressive effort on the last lap. She led the pack with a time of 10:23.68. The other first-place accolades went to Jennifer Cutrer and Amanda Feigt. Cutrer clocked a PR in the 60m hurdles (8.75) while Feigt won the long jump title with a leap of 18-9.

"Overall, I thought that we had a nice meet," said head coach Kyle Kepler. "We showed good improvement in a variety of areas, but I wouldn't call it a perfect meet. The team struggled in some areas but, overall, I'm proud of the student-athletes. They did a good job.

"With such a young team, we need to remedy our inconsistencies that we experience from day-to-day and from meet-to-meet. But, there were some positive strides made at this meet and that's good because the conference meet is just a couple of weeks down the road."

The Utes finished one-two in the long jump. Just four inches behind Feigt was teammate Haley McAllister. She took runner-up on an 18-5 jump. Third-place showings went to Chelsea Shapard in the 200m (25.51) and to Becky Riddle in the weight throw (56-2).

Other solid efforts came from Chasity Toilolo in the shot put (41-8 ¾) Chelsea DiGrazia in the mile (5:15.16). Toilolo took fourth while DiGrazia took fifth, respectively.

Of note was the series of tosses that led to Toilolo's fourth-place finish. Of the six tosses, Toilolo set a PR on four them, topping out with her 41-plus foot toss.

"I thought that the team started flat," remaked Kepler. "It was at about the middle of the meet that I noticed that our energy started to pick up. And, when that occurred, I thought we turned in a strong finish. Now, our charge is to have a high energy level the entire meet."
