TULSA, OKLA. - The University of Utah women's tennis team finished up day three at the Central Regional Tournament on Friday. Elizabeth Ferris (88) heads up the main draw singles competition, while Evgenia Kryunchkova continues in the consolation singles bracket.
Ferris competed through two matches in singles play on Friday. In the round of 32, the Ute faced Carla Zabalets from Tulsa. In the first set, Zabalets put up a big fight, but was still unable to seal the deal. Ferris took the match at 7-5, 6-3. In the round of 16, the Ute took on Chelsea Orr from Oklahoma. The competitors battled through two sets and Ferris walked away with a 6-2, 6-1 victory.
In the consolation bracket, Kryunchkova faced Hilary Tyler from Colorado State in the round of 32. The Ute smashed a 6-3, 6-2 win over the Ram. In the round of 16, Kryunchkova took on Lucy Scott of New Mexico. The Ute took control early on for a 6-2, 6-4 win over the Lobo.
