THIS WEEK
The University of Utah men's tennis team will take on the Weber State Wildcats on Saturday at home at Eccles Tennis Center. Competition will begin at 5:00 p.m. MT.
OPPOSITION
Weber State last played in their season opener at Brigham Young University on January 13 where they fell 0-7 to the Cougars.
Leading the Wildcats is sophomore Sascha Kiehne. He played at the No. 1 spot against the Cougars' James Ludlow. Kienhe fell to Ludlow, who took the match 7-5, 6-7 (4-7), 6-2.
UTE NOTES
The Utes are fresh off of a 5-2 win over Utah State from last weekend. Wes Hancock, Othman Ouariti, Timmy Allin, and Amit Maharaj all pulled out victories for Utah in singles.
Hancock, a sophomore from St. George, Utah, played his first match at the No. 1 spot for Utah earning a 7-6, 3-6, 11-9 win over Hannes Schenk from Utah State.
Ouariti battled hard against his opponent Dantley Young at the No. 3 spot. The freshman from Montreal, Canada, won the match in the tie breaker 6-3, 7-6 (7-4) over the Aggie.
Utah's doubles teams played exceptionally well against Utah State. The Ute duos swept past the Aggies to win all three matches and the doubles point.
COMING UP
The University of Utah men's tennis team will be back in action against the University of Nevada on February 2. Competition is set to begin at 5:00 p.m. MT at Eccles Tennis Center in Salt Lake City.
