Salt Lake City Utah. - Rebecca Mackelprang led the University of Utah cross country team as they finished third at the Utah Fall Twilight here at the Rose Park Golf Course this evening. Mackelprnag led all Utes in clocking the 6km course in 22:54. She finished 5th.
Utah took third on 60 points. Leading the way was UVSC with 25 points while Air Force (49 points, second), Nevada (87 points, fourth), and Westminster (155 points, fifth)
"We ran hard throughout the entire race," said head coach Kyle Kepler " I am proud of Becky Mackelprang she ran well with the leaders of the race. Our second group stayed together pretty well, but we needed to get a better start."
Also scoring for the Utes was Stephanie Skoreyko (12th, 23:47.9), Chelsea DiGrazia (13th, 23:49), and Kellie Anderson (14th, 23:54.4).
Rounding out the rest of the results for the Utes were Alyssa Abbott (16th, 24:00.6), Lauren Endersen (19th, 24:17.3), and Janett Ern (30th, 25:56).
Kepler ends with, "I appreciate everyone who helped out with our first home meet of the season, such as the administration, coaches, fans, and supporters of the university."
Karinne Bentley from UVSC won the race. She paced everyone by finishing first in 22:37.9.
The Utes return to action next week when they race at the BYU Autumn Classic in Provo, Utah.
