Utah Cross Country Goes 3-0 at Reno Chase Race Becky Mackelprang paces all Utes with 2nd -place finish.
RENO, Nev. - Becky Mackelprang led the University of Utah cross country team as they finished with 3 wins and zero loses at the Reno Chase Race here at the Bartley Ranch Park this afternoon. Mackelprang led all Utes in clocking the 4000m course in 15:15. She finished 2nd overall.
The Dual Meet Team scores shows Utah beat the University of Nevada 26 to 29, took the win over Boise St. 21 to 36, and won over Sacramento St. 16 to 55.
"We ran well," commented Head Coach Kyle Kepler. "We showed great effort for our first meet of the year. We competed hard and will continue to move forward."
Also scoring for the Utes within one second of each other was Alyssa Abbott 5th (16:06), Chelsea DiGrazia 6th (16:06), and Kellie Anderson 7th (16:07).
Also competing for the Utes was Lauren Endersen who placed 14th (16:26), and Janett Ern 17th (16:55)
"The freshman really stepped up today, especially Becky Mackelprang who was 2nd overall," said coach Kepler.
Amanda Moreno from the University of Nevada won the race. She paced everyone by finishing first in 14:54
The Utes return to action next week when they race at the BYU Autumn Classic in Provo, Utah on Saturday Sept. 9th.
