THIS WEEK:
The University of Utah women's tennis team will play their fall opener this Thursday, Sept. 21 through Saturday, Sept. 23 at the BYU Invitational in Provo, Utah.
After an 11-10 finish to last year's season, the Utes head into the opening tournament with eight returning members and three newcomers. "This will be a good opportunity for us to get back out onto the courts and compete again," says head coach Megan Dorny. "I am especially looking forward to seeing our new players and finding out what they can do. These early tournaments are a chance for us to work on doubles teams and regaining match consistency."
Participating in the BYU Invitational include ranked teams BYU (No. 30), Washington State (No. 69), and Boise State (No. 63). Also competing will be Colorado State, and in state rivals Weber State and Utah State.
COMING UP:
Utah's Elizabeth Ferris will be competing in the Riviera/ITA Women's All-American Championships in Pacific Palisades, Calif. on October 3-8, 2006.
