COLUMBUS, OHIO - Zach Ganger of the University of Utah men's tennis team played a victorious 6-3, 7-5 match on Friday against Jared Drucker of Columbia in the first round of the Men's Consolation at the ITA National Indoor Championships.
After a loss against No.8 Erling Tveit of Mississippi on Thursday in the main draw competition, Ganger began play in the consolation Round of 16 on Friday. Facing Jared Drucker of Columbia for the first round of competition, the two played through a two-set battle. The Ute took the first set 6-3, but Drucker was prepared to challenge for the second set. Although the Lion put forth a valiant effort, Ganger did not budge and took the second set 7-5.
Moving into the Quarterfinals in the Men's Consolation of the National Indoor Championships, Ganger will face No. 26 nationally ranked Greg Ouellette from the University of Florida. Competition is scheduled to begin on Saturday at 11:00 a.m. EST.
