THIS WEEK The Ute cross country team has one more week to prepare for the Mountain West Conference Championships, which they will host on their home course at Rose Park Golf Course.
LAST WEEK The Utes traveled to Fayetteville Ark. for the Chili Pepper Invitational. The entire team ran a personal best including Janette Ern who ran 1:50 faster than she did last year at the same meet. The Utes placed 18th of 44 teams with 517 points.
UTE NOTES Rebecca Mackelprang led the Utes last weekend placing 74th of 349 runners. The rest of the Utes were not far behind Mackelprang, Alyssa Abbott placed 85th, Stephanie Skoreyko placed 92nd, Chelsea DiGrazia (109th), Janett Ern (157th), and Lauren Endersen (184th). Utah was only ten points behind conference rival Wyoming (507 points).
KEPLER'S QUOTES "We come into an off week after the best race we have run all year. This week we will focus on sharpening things up, we will take out the volume of training but keep the intensity up."
"I continue to be pleased with the overall development." Kepler finishes with, "Our young group has handled all the ups and downs very well and are now able to run with confidence."
NEXT WEEK The Utes will host, for the first time, the MWC Championships in Salt Lake City. The meet will begin at 10 a.m. on Sat. Oct. 28, at Rose Park Golf Course
