THIS WEEK: The University of Utah women's tennis team plays three matches, two against conference opponents, this week in Colorado.
On Thursday, Apr. 7 the Utes match up against No. 46 Denver on the Pioneers' home courts at 2:00 p.m.
Then the Utes head to Colorado Springs, Colo. for Mountain West action against Air Force on Saturday, Apr. 9 and No. 37 New Mexico on Sunday, Apr. 10.
REVIEWING LAST WEEK: The women's tennis team shut down the University of Hawaii at the Eccles Tennis Center on Saturday. Playing at the No. 1 singles, freshman Emily Kwok earned a (6-4, 6-1) victory over No. 86 Lauren Fitzgerald.
With the win, the Utes improve to 12-7 on the season.
SCOUTING THE OPPONENT: The Denver Pioneers have compiled an overall 9-2 record on the season and are 1-0 in the Sun Belt Conference.
The University of New Mexico is 11-7 on the regular season and undefeated against Mountain West teams. The Lobos upset No. 34 UNLV (4-3) last week and also defeated No. 40 San Diego State (5-2) and Colorado State (6-1) to imrpove their conference mark to 3-0.
New Mexico's Iva Gersic is ranked No. 48 and Maja Kovacek is ranked No. 61 in the ITA singles rankings. The Lobo duo is also ranked No. 8 in the doubles.
The Air Force Academy has compiled an overall record of 8-10 this season. The Falcons are struggling in the conference with 0-3 mark. The losses have been to UNLV (7-0), San Diego State (6-1) and Wyoming (6-1).
