THIS WEEK: The University of Utah women's tennis team will compete in the Mountain West Conference Championships this Thursday, Apr. 28 to Saturday, Apr. 30. Competition will take place at the Barnes Tennis Center on the San Diego State campus.
Fifth-seeded Utah takes on fourth-seeded San Diego State on Thursday at 2:00 p.m.
REVIEWING LAST WEEK: The women's tennis team finished the regular season with losses to UNLV (7-0) and San Diego State (4-3).
In Utah's close loss to the Aztecs, Liz Ferris and Cinthia Saucedo earned singles wins. At No. 1, Ferris defeated Alesya Vidov (6-2, 6-4). Saucedo beat Carla Bell (6-0, 6-2) at No. 6. The Utes also picked up wins at the No. 2 and 3 doubles to earn the point.
Utah completes the regular season with a 13-11 record and a 3-4 mark in the Mountain West.
SCOUTING THE OPPONENT: San Diego State is currentley ranked No. 43 in the ITA polls. The Aztecs have compiled a 15 and nine record this season and are 4-3 in conference play.
QUOTING HEAD COACH Megan Dorny: "We will be playing SDSU on Thursday. The match we played against SDSU at home last weekend just slipped away from us, and we are hoping to have another great match against them in San Diego.
We are looking forward to a great MWC tournament."
