THIS WEEK: The University of Utah women's tennis team wraps up Mountain West Conference play this week against UNLV and San Diego State. The Utes face the Rebels on Friday, Apr. 15 in Provo, Utah at 10: 00 a.m.
On Saturday, Apr. 16 the Utes play in the Eccles Tennis Center for a final time this season when they host the Aztecs at 1:00 p.m.
REVIEWING LAST WEEK: In the thick of conference play last weekend, the Utes were shut out by No. 41 New Mexico (7-0). Utah also picked up a loss (6-1) to non-conference opponent No. 46 Denver.
However, after a one day delay due to a blizzard in Colorado, the Utes cruised to a 5-0 victory over Air Force on Monday, Apr. 11. They advanced to 3-2 in the Mountain West.
Utah is 13-9 overall this season.
SCOUTING THE OPPONENT: UNLV is 11-6 this season and 4-1 in the Mountain West. The Rebels' conference loss was to No. 41 New Mexico. Last week, UNLV cruised past Colorado State 6-1 and Wyoming 4-0.Rebel Elena Gancheva is ranked No. 28 in the ITA singles polls.
San Diego State has compiled a 12 and 8 record on the season and a 3-2 conference mark. The Aztecs slid past Colorado State 4-3 last week.
QUOTING HEAD COACH Megan Dorny: "We are playing some strong conference teams this weekend and are looking forward to the challenge. Liz and Emily are playing very well at the top of the line right now, and our doubles is showing lots of improvement from last year. We are nearing the end of our regular season and hope to end it with a couple of great dual matches."
