Salt Lake City - The University of Utah men's tennis team opens up the season hosting the Utah Intercollegiate Invitational October 7-9, 2004.
The individual tournament includes singles and doubles main and consolation rounds. Players from Boise State, BYU, University of Utah, Utah State, and Weber State will partcipate in the invitational.
Weather permitting, competition will take place outdoors on the courts of the Utah Sports Mall, located at 5445 South and 900 East in Salt Lake City. Otherwise, the tournament will be moved to the Eccles Tennis Center.
The Utes return this year under Head Coach F.D. Robbins, in his 19th season, and Assistant Coach Graeme Cox, 8th season. The team is led by juniors Nick Coutts and Tomasz Grzyb. Also returning are sophomores Miron Mann, Ryan Scott, and Jason Yap.
Utah coaches are excited with the arrival of Zach Ganger from Jacksonville, Fla., Dan Mascall of Cairns, Australia, Rian Rifkin of West Linn, Ore., and walk-on junior Chad Robbins from Taylorsville, Utah.
