SALT LAKE CITY - Ute junior April Mancuso will be featured on CBS Sports Presents: NCAA Championships, Sunday, April 18 at 11:00 a.m. (MDT). The story will detail Mancuso's incredible comeback from what could have been a career-ending back injury that left her unable to compete during the 2003 ski season.
"April recovering from this injury is an amazing story," said Head Alpine Coach Aaron Atkins. "To see her comeback from that injury and perform the way she has this year is incredible. She is the leader of our women's squad and we are very happy to have her back on the team."
The Lake Tahoe, Calif., native has recovered nicely, skiing to All-America honors at the 2004 NCAA Championships. Coming into the NCAAs, Mancuso was ranked first in the GS and 19th in the SL. The downhiller was a major contributor to Utah's second-place finish at the NCAAs this season, skiing to two top-10 alpine finishes. On two very difficult courses, Mancuso managed to ski sixth in the giant slalom with a time of 2:00.10 and eighth in the slalom in 1:25.38.
