Salt Lake City - The University of Utah men's tennis team wrapped up their season with a 5-2 win over Air Force at the Eccles Tennis Center.

The Utes claimed a one point lead early by winning two of three doubles matches. Competing at the No. 1, Roeland Brateanu and Miron Mann defeated Tyler McClung and Shannon Buck (8-5). At the No. 2, the duo of Tomasz Grzyb and Nick Coutts downed Trevor Johnson and Sky Jensen (8-6).

Utah picked up four more wins in the singles. Brateanu dispatched Buck in three sets at the No. 1 (4-6, 6-3, 7-6). Coutts took care of Chris Dong in three sets at the No. 4 ( 6-0, 1-6, 6-3). At the No. 5, Jason Yap defeated Justin Lau (6-1, 6-1). After three sets, Ryan Scott topped Robby Alexander at the No. 6 ( 6-1, 3-6, 6-3).

Head Coach F.D. Robbins comments on the match. "The guys put forth a good effort today. They put forth a really good effort all three days. We just finally won a close match. I felt like we played good enough to win all three of those conference matches but we just couldn't quite win the close ones. It was good to win some of the close ones today and get a win before the conference in a couple weeks. "

"We hope to use this for a spring board to playing well at the conference. They fought hard every match. We feel like we're just as good as any team in the conference if we can win the close matches."
