THIS WEEK:
The University of Utah women's tennis team travels to Laramie, Wyo., and Fort Collins, Colo., to wrap up its Mountain West Conference season. On April 17, the Utes battle the Cowgirls at 10:00 a.m. They match up against the Colorado State Rams on Sunday, April 18 at 10:00 a.m.
REVIEWING LAST WEEK: Utah claimed its first Mountain West Confernce victory with a 4-3 win over Air Force on Friday, April 9. However, the Utes were defeated 7-0 by No. 33 New Mexico on Saturday, April 10. The women's tennis team is 1-3 in conference play.
UTE NOTES: Junior Allison Hansen and freshman Ashley Young are still unable to compete due to injury. Shannon Bullard, a junior from Ogden, and Jenacee Jackson, a freshman from Salt Lake, have joined the lineup to help the Utes out.
SCOUTING THE OPPOSITION: The University of Wyoming is 9-8 overall on the season and 0-4 in the Mountain West Conference. The Cowgirls are headed by Pam Wildt, who is in her fifth season as the women's tennis coach.
Colorado State University has compiled a 10-8 overall record and is 2-3 in the Mountain West Conference. The Rams are coached by Jon Messick, who is in his 15th season.
QUOTING HEAD COACH Megan Dorny: "After finally breaking our losing streak we are optimistic going into this weekend. Whitney is playing great and hopefully we can get our doubles performances up as that point is key. UNM is highly ranked, but we have set ourselves as a good home team and look forward to that match at home."
