THIS WEEK: The University of Utah men's tennis team takes on three conference opponents this week at home. The Utes match up against BYU on Thursday, April 15, New Mexico on Friday, April 16 and Air Force on Saturday, April 17. All matches will be played at the Canyon Racquet Club and will begin at 2:00 p.m.
REVIEWING LAST WEEK: The Utes opened conference play on April 2 and 3 in Las Vegas. Utah was downed 6-0 by UNLV and did not get to play the scheduled match against San Diego due to a rain delay.
SCOUTING THE OPPOSITION: No. 72 ranked BYU has a 5-13 overall mark on the season and a 0-1 mark in the Mountain West Conference. The conference loss was to San Diego State University. The Cougars are coached by Brad Pearce, who is in his fifth year with the men's tennis team.
New Mexico, which is ranked No. 67, is the only team that is undefeated in the conference. Under Head Coach Alan Dils, the Lobos are 13-6 on the season. Senior Divan Coetzee is ranked 27th nationally.
Air Force has compiled a 12-11 overall record and a 0-3 record in the conference. Head Coach Rich Gugat is in his 29th season with the Falcons.
QUOTING ASSISTANT COACH Graeme Cox: "We have three difficult conference match ups this weekend and are hoping to put forth a good effort in all of them. Playing three matches in three days is always difficult, especially against tough conference foes."
