LAS VEGAS, Nev. - The University of Utah volleyball team posted its 20th win for the season when it topped UNLV tonight, 3-0.
The win came on scores of 30-18, 30-26 and 30-20. The Utes are now 20-3 for the season and have won in all 12 conference contests, entering the final weekend of conference play. The Rebels stumble to 12-10 overall and to 6-6 in conference action.
"I was concerned about tonight's match because UNLV is a good team and this is one of the toughest road trips for us," head coach Beth Launiere said. "We stepped it up and played great volleyball tonight.
"I think the team is getting more fired up as we get closer to our goal (of winning a conference championship). Getting two huge sweeps on the road this late in the season means a lot."
It is the fifth straight win for Utah and the ninth straight 20-win season.
The Utes held the Rebels to a .065 hitting percentage, tallying 29 kills and 22 errors on 108 swings. Utah, however, hit .208 (54-21-118), benefiting from a .361 (19-6-36) effort in the third and final frame. UNLV never hit better than .171 (14-8-35) in a game and were held to a negative -.108 (5-9-37) in the opening frame.

But, Kartchner was the most efficient for the match, spiking 12 kills in hitting .632 (12-0-19). She turns in her second double-double in as many nights, handing out a match-high 26 assists.
Tracy Neumeier chipped on offense with 24 assists and a match-high three service aces.
Connie Dangerfield tallied a match-best 15 digs while Danielle Leichliter tallied 12. Henderson and Amie Toone each led the Utes with three blocks.
