SALT LAKE CITY - The University of Utah volleyball squad will venture to Los Angeles, Calif., to battle Long Beach State in the first round of the NCAA Tournament this Friday, Dec. 3. Match time in Pauley Pavilion is set for 5:30 p.m. (PST).
"I think that our bracket features very good teams," head coach Beth Launiere said. "All four of them are very similar and I think that is going to make these first and second rounds in L.A. very unique."
The other matchup pits the No. 15 seeded and host UCLA against Marymount on Friday at 8 p.m. The winners of the first-round meetings will play on Saturday, Dec. 4, at 7 p.m.
Utah is making its seventh straight NCAA appearance.
The only team that Utah hasn't seen this year is Marymount. The Utes dropped a 3-1 decision to Long Beach State on September 4. However, it was only two weeks later that Utah upset then-No. 6 UCLA in Salt Lake City, 3-2.
