Utah Swimming Signs Four Recruits

SALT LAKE CITY - The University of Utah swimming and diving teams signed four high-school recruits, three local products and one more from San Diego. The announcement came today from Head Coach Michael Litzinger.
Utah signed Jennifer Fredsall from Kearns, Utah; Jennifer Trescott from San Diego; Ricky Nerud from St. George, Utah; and George Evans from Salt Lake City.
Fredsall, a Kearns High School product, holds the fourth fastest time in the country for the 2005 graduating class in the 100 fly (55.87). She also holds the 10th fastest time in the 50 free (23.80). Fredsall was a 2004 high school All-American in the 100 fly, 50 free and 200 and 400 free relays. She was the 2004 Utah high school champion in the 100 fly, 50 free, 200 and 400 free. Fredsall is a Utah state high school record holder in the 200 and 400 free relay and a 2004 first team all-state and fourth team All-American in Water Polo. Fredsall is also a member of the National Honor Society.
"Jennifer's decision to attend Utah is a real coup for us. She is one of the fastest High School butterfly swimmers in the country. It is very exciting for us to have Jennifer in our program, and she will certainly help us on our way the goals we have set on the conference level and the NCAA level."
Trescott is a 2004 High School All-American in the 500 free (5:04.01) and the 400 free relay. A member of the 2004 CIF Southern Section Team Champion Rancho Bernardo High School team, she also placed second in the 500 free and fourth in the 200 free at the 2004 CIF Southern Section Championships.
"I am very excited to have Jennifer join our program at Utah. She has a great attitude and will help us continue Utah's great tradition in the Middle Distance events."
Nerud is a five-time 3A Utah State Champion. He won the 100 fly from 2003-04, 200 free from 2002-03 and the 500 free in 2002. Nerud is a three-time Pine View High School National Honor Society "Who's Who Among American High School Students."
"Ricky is a great athlete, student and will be a great Ute. I am looking forward to having him at Utah, and his best swimming is certainly ahead of him."
Evans hails from Skyline High School, where he was the 2004 5A Utah State Champion in the 50 free (21.42), the 100 free (47.04) and the 200 and 400 free relays. Evans helped lead Skyline High School to a 2004 5A state championship.
"George is extremely talented, and his addition to our sprint group will be one that is welcome. His goals are set on the National level and that's what it takes to be successful in NCAA I swimming. He will help the Utes compete for MWC relay titles."
