Salt Lake City - The University of Utah women's tennis team heads to Tulsa, Oklahoma for the ITA Central Regional Tournament. Competition takes place Oct. 20 -24.
Utah freshman Elizabeth Ferris will play in the singles main draw on Thursday, Oct. 21.
Sophomore Whitney Eber and freshman Cheyenne Reveche will compete in a three-round qualifying draw for the chance to advance in the singles. The qualifying rounds are scheduled for Wednesday, Oct. 20. The singles also includes consolation rounds.
Ferris and Eber team up in the doubles main draw played on Friday, Oct. 22.
"We have been experimenting in doubles and we think we have found a good team in Ferris and Eber," says Head Coach Megan Dorny.
After a successful season playing at the No. 2, Eber rejoins the Utes. She complied an overall 11-19 record. At the BYU Invitational, Eber picked up a win against Chelsee Drews of Weber State.
Ferris comes from Anaheim, Calif., to join the women's tennis team this year. In her first showing with the Utes at the BYU Invitational, she posted wins over Lindsey Bennion of Utah State and Alissa Ayling of Boise State.
Canoga Park, Calif., native Reveche is another addition to Utah's roster. She defeated Carla Pallares of Colorado State and Courtney Anderson of Utah State at the BYU Invitational.
Dorny feels the tournament will be a measuring stick for her players. "It will be nice to see them compete and see how they will do with players in the region."
