Utah Comeback Falls Two Yards Short

COLLEGE STATION, Texas (AP) - Texas A&M's Jonte Buhl knocked Utah quarterback Brett Elliott out of bounds on a 2-point conversion attempt with 6 seconds to play Saturday night, preserving the Aggies' 28-26 victory.
The Aggies (2-0) led 21-0 at halftime, but the Utes rallied behind Brandon Warfield, who ran for three touchdowns and finished with 181 yards rushing on 36 carries.
The Aggies were leading 28-20 in the closing minutes when Elliott drove the Utes (1-1) 76 yards and completed a 45-yard touchdown pass to John Madsen. The drive included two third-down conversions and another on fourth down.
Elliott rolled to pass for the 2 points then ran for the pylon, only to be slammed at the 2-yard-line by Buhl.
The Aggies lost three fumbles in the second half.
Terrence Murphy fumbled the kickoff following Warfield's 2-yard touchdown on the first drive of the third quarter but kicker Brian Borreson missed a 39-yard field goal attempt.
Corey Dodds later recovered a bobbled snap at the Aggies 18, setting up Warfield's 6-yard TD. Aggies fullback Keith Joseph fumbled at the Utah goal line late in the third quarter.
Courtney Lewis broke through a big hole for a 28-yard touchdown run with 13:07 left in the game to give the Aggies a 28-13 lead, but Warfield scored on a 1-yard touchdown with 6:13 to go to make it an 8-point game.
Murphy had kickoff returns of 58 and 77 yards that set up 10 points last week and he was the Aggies' big play man again in the first half.
Murphy lined up in the slot, pulled and took McNeal's handoff on the run, sprinting untouched around the right side and down the sidelines for 80 yards, the 13th longest running play in A&M history.
Murphy also figured in A&M's next score, hauling in a 50-yard pass on the first play after Marcus Jasmin knocked Utah's Elliott from the ball and Bryant Singleton recovered at the Aggies 16.
Fullback Keith Joseph scored on a 1-yard dive.
The Aggies made it 21-0 on another Utah mistake when wide receiver Steve Savoy fumbled on an end around and David Ross recovered for the Aggies at the 4. McNeal hit tight end Quinlin Germany for the touchdown on the first play.
Elliott was 18-of-40 for 210 yards, while A&M quarterback Reggie McNeal was 12-of-18 for 145 yards.
