SALT LAKE CITY - The University of Utah's Women's Swimming and Diving team has been named to the College Swimming Coaches of America Academic All-American team. Utah established themselves as one of the top academic teams in the country boasting a 3.27 GPA, which is tied for 27th overall. Individually, sophomore Loren Sweny and junior Kristen Kaiser were named as Honorable Mention Academic All-Americans.
"I am extremely proud of our women," said Head Coach Michael Litzinger. "Their academic achievements have set a standard for future teams and the Mountain West Conference."
This season, the Ute women's swimmers upheld the highest GPA in the MWC, while placing 15 student-athletes on the fall season honor roll (3.0 GPA or higher) and 16 in the spring. The Utes also recorded 14 Dean's List (3.5 GPA or higher with the required number of credit hours) recipients during the 2003 season.
