This Week: The University of Utah women's tennis team will continue the Mountain West Conference schedule this week, as they will host UNLV on April 4 at 1:00 p.m. and San Diego State at noon on April 5. Weather permitting, the matches will be held at the Snowbird Canyon Racquet Club.
Utes To Watch: Ellen Svensson defeated two ranked opponents in last week's matches. On Sunday the 23rd, she defeated South Carolina's Kathy Boyonovich, #102 in the collegiate rankings. On March 28, Svensson, a sophomore, defeated 82-ranked Sandy Lukowski of New Mexico. Look for a similar performance this week from her.
Quoting Head Coach Megan Dorny: "UNLV and SDSU are highly ranked teams, so we are the underdogs, but hope to be playing on our home courts for added advantage."
"Ellen has had some great wins at #1 singles lately, and we hope for her great play to continue. Allison Hansen and Sheri Esrock have also been looking good in the singles play and Alli Hansen has been playing very well at #1 doubles. We hope to have a good showing this weekend against some good conference competitors."
Coming Up: The Utes will conclude regular season conference play next week, with matches against Colorado State and Wyoming, on April 11 and 12, respectively. The team will then have two more non-conference tune-up matches before the Mountain West Conference tournament.
