RIVERSIDE, Calif. -- The University of Utah men's tennis team started their four-match California road trip with a bang, as they closed out UC-Riverside with a 6-1 win on Sunday afternoon. The win moves the Utes to a plus-.500 record for the first time in over a month as they move to a 7-6 overall record on the season.
The Utes took charge early on, sweeping the doulbes matches to gain the point. Roeland Brateanu and Nick Coutts teamed up to defeat Brent Davis and Dan Stevens 8-6.Tyler Poulson and Tomasz Grzyb downed Derek Betyar and Norman Tam 8-5, and Kaisorn Chaichana and Daniel Lohff defeated Paul Choppi and Caesar Regaliza 8-3.
Other than Roeland Brateanu's 6-7, 6-3, (10-4) loss to Norman Tam in no. 1 singles, the Utes won in straight sets. Next up, the Utes will meet San Diego on March 18.
