DENVER, Colo.- The University of Utah men's and women's swimming and diving team beat Denver on Saturday. With the victory both teams will head into the Christmas break with an undefeated record for the first time in school history.
The Utah men move to 2-0 with a 184-110 victory over the Pioneers. Cody Rempfer won three events including setting a pool record in both the 400 IM with a time of 4:05.11, along with the 200 medley relay. The 200 medley relay team of Rempfer, Andrew Cole, Evan Castro and Jonathan Larsen finished with a time of 1:33.99. "Denver swam incredibly tough and they will be a good program in the future. Our men swam a solid meet and now head into the holiday break undefeated," comments Head Coach Michael Litzinger.
The Ute women added a 160-129 win, improving to 3-0 in dual meet competition. Tessa Greegor was the lone three-event winner. Greegor finished on top in the 200 medley relay (1:47.99), 100 breast (1:05.77) and 200 breast (2:26.54). "The women had a solid win but there is still a lot that we need to work on to be a championship team. We still need to improve on our performance on the road," adds Litzinger.
The Utes will be competing in the U.S. Open on Dec. 4-6, followed by Florida Atlantic on Dec. 20.
