THIS WEEK: The University of Utah cross country teams will head to Minneapolis, Minn., to compete in the Roy Griak Invitational on Sat, Sept. 28. This is the first NCAA qualifying meet for the Utes.
QUOTING HEAD COACH BRIAN APPELL: "The Roy Griak Invitational will feature 30 of the top schools in the country, with 14 possible NCAA qualifiers," says Appell. "For each of the fourteen qualifiers that we are able to beat, we will earn points towards qualifying for the NCAA Championship meet."
LAST WEEK: The University of Utah cross country teams competed in the Montana State Invitational on Sat., Sept. 21. The men's team, running a five-mile race, finished second (39 points), while the women finished third (78 points), running a three-mile race.
Only 14 seconds split the top-five finishers for the men's team. Freshman Kurt Michaels led the team with a sixth-place finish (25:17.52).
