OGDEN, Utah - The University of Utah swept Weber State on Fri., Mar. 29. Senior David Mercier competed in singles and doubles after missing some matches due to a injury. Utah moves to 11-7 on the year and pushes its winning streak to three matches going into conference play next week. Utah will compete against New Mexico on Apr. 5 and Air Force on Apr. 6. Both matches will be held in Albuquerque, N. M.
In singles competition, David Mercier defeated WSU's Don Williams (6-3, 6-1) at the one position. At the two, Corrie Scheepers downed WSU's Daniel Salvato (6-2, 6-2). Nik Yip beat WSU's Kenny Lindley (6-1, 6-1) at the three position. Daniel Carlsson defeated WSU's Philip Ivanov (6-1, 6-2), Tyler Poulson downed WSU's Victor Blocher (6-4, 6-2) and Daniel Lohff beat WSU's Daniel Abeaboeru (6-2, 6-4).
In doubles competition against Weber State, Mercier/Yip downed WSU's Salvato/Williams (9-8) at the one. Carlsson/Poulson defeated WSU's Ivanov/Lindley (8-4) and Lohff/Scheepers beat WSU's Abeaboeru/Blocher (8-1).
