Utah Netters Fall To BYU In Region Indoor

LAS VEGAS, Nev.-- - The Universtiy of Utah Men's tennis team travelled to Las Vegas to participate in the Region VII Team Indoor Tournament on Friday. The Utes faced in-state rival Brigham Young in the first round of the tournament. The Utes were lead by the efforts of co-captain Tyler Poulson. The senior paired with Nick Coutts to defeat Anton Rudjuk and Jose Lechuga in doubles action, winning the match 8-4. Poulson also went on to defeat Rudjuk in a 6-3, 3-6, 6-4 singles match. With Daniel Lohff teaming with Kaisorn Chaichana pairing to defeat Jeff Olson and Alonzo Medina 8-6, the Utes captured two of three doubles match and the point.
In other singles action, Tomasz Grzyb met Jeff Olson in the no. 5 singles. After capturing the first set 7-6, Grzyb closed out the second set 6-1 for the victory. Nick Coutts faced Josed Lechuga at the no. 4 singles, hoping to score a crucial point with a win. He and Lechuga played a three set match, with Coutts falling 4-6, 6-3, 4-6.
