SALT LAKE CITY--The University of Utah track and field team is getting involved with the community. Several student-athletes recently participated in the Diabetes Foundation Walk and in a Habitat for Humanity house building project. Along, with athletes from other Utah varsity sports, the track and field team helped put up siding for the new house. Director of Student-Athlete Support Services Mary Bowman set up the projects and invites all Utah student-athletes to participate.
"I'm really proud of our athletes for getting involved with the community," said Head Coach Lisa Archer. "We've already made plans to help with next year's Habitat for Humanity project."
Pole vaulter Brooke LoBue went on to say, "It was great to get together with the team and be involved with something that benefits the community. We had a lot of fun and we learned skills that will help us for future community projects, and in our own home improvement projects."
