FORT COLLINS, Colo. - The No. 16 University of Utah volleyball team dropped its second match in two days, losing tonight at Colorado State University in four games (27-30, 19-30, 30-23, 21-30). The Utes committed 19 service errors, which turned out to be the difference in the otherwise close match. With the loss, Utah drops to 14-6 overall and 4-3 in the Mountain West Conference.
"It's pretty tough to win on the road when you give up that many points," Head Coach Beth Launiere said. "It was a hard-fought match and we played with more heart, but we made 19 service errors and that killed us."
Junior Kim Turner led the Utes with 18 kills, followed by senior Sylva Strzinkova with 14 and sophomore Lyndsey Phillips with 13. Turner and Phillips each had four blocks apiece. Sophomore Shelly Hundley finished with 10 digs to lead Utah and sophomore setter Kelsie Kartchner paced the Utes with 33 assists.
UP NEXT: The Utes host San Diego State and UNLV next Friday and Saturday, Oct. 25 and 26, for 7:00 p.m. matches.
