David Mercier, a junior competitor for the University of Utah men's tennis team, was honored as a Mountain West All-Conference selection in singles competition. Mercier, a native of St. Augustin, Quebec, competed in his second year for the Utes. He earned a 9-13 dual and 12-15 overall record this season, playing predominately at the No. 1 position.

Utah: Went 9-13 dual and 12-15 overall in 2001. He Teamed up with Daniel Carlsson to earn a 12-3 dual and overall doubles record this season. As a Ute, he tallied a 12-16 overall and 6-15 dual mark in 2000. Named MWC All-conference in singles and doubles in the 2000 season.
Pre-Utah: Competed for one year at the 1999 NCAA Division II National Champion, Lander University. He won the No. 3 doubles championship for the Peach Belt Conference in `99. He also placed first in the 1999 Boise Open. He won the Quebec Province and National Singles Championship in 1997 for the 18 and under category. Mercier reached the quarterfinals of the 1999 Region VII Tournament.
