Ready For A Clash With The Cougars

This Week: The University of Utah women's tennis team (4-10, 2-3 MWC) will make its way down I-15 to Provo for a clash with in-state rival Brigham Young University (0-0) Sat., April 7 at noon.
About the Utes: Utah lost its second and third consecutive Mountain West Conference matches at the Fertitta Tennis Complex in Las Vegas last Friday and Saturday. The Utes dropped a 6-1 match to No. 60 UNLV and were swept by No. 54 San Diego State, 7-0. Frida Kareld earned a win at No. 6 singles over Amy Hadziosmanovic, 4-6, 7-5, 7-5, against the Rebels to garner the only team point. Linn Ronnberg and Sheri Esrock combined at No. 3 doubles for the only other Ute victory on the weekend, a 9-8 triumph over the Rebels' Urska Radanovic and Britta Gabl. Utah owns conference wins over Colorado State and Air Force. The Utes other two wins on the season are over Utah State and UC-Irvine. Utah is 3-3 over the last six matches.
About the Cougars: Brigham Young is currently ranked No. 36 with a 10-7 record overall and 5-0 in the Mountain West Conference.
The Cougars have six singles players with winning records, while Jodi Richardson is ranked No. 37 nationally at the No. 1 position. She and Brooke Ferney form the No. 22 doubles tandem in the country.
Looking Ahead: Utah will host its final two home matches at the Eccles Tennis Center Fri., April 13 against No. 10 Fresno State at 2 p.m. and Sat., April 14 versus Wyoming at 11 a.m.
