SALT LAKE CITY, UTAH - The University of Utah men's tennis team finished the regular season with a 7-0 sweep over the University of Montana on Thursday. The victory gave the Utes a 10-11 regular season record.
The Utes won two-of-three doubles matches to win the doubles point. David Mercier and Nicholas Yip won from the No. 1 position, while Daniel Carlsson and Tyler Poulson won from the No. 2 spot.
In singles competition, the Utes won all of the six matches in straight sets. Mercier defeated Eric Goldstein at the No. 1 position. Kevin Zenger was victorious over UM's Eric Metzger at the No. 2 spot, while Yip came away with the win over Tomislav Sokolic at the No. 3. Carlsson, Poulson and Kaisorn Chaichana won from the last three positions in the Ute lineup.
The Utes will host the Mountain West Conference Championships Apr. 26-28 at the Snowbird Canyon Raquet Club. The first match will begin at 10 a.m.
