LOS ANGELES, CALIF. - The University of Utah men's tennis team fell to 21st-ranked Southern California Trojans, 7-0. The 64th-ranked Utes came away victorious in one of the three singles matches, but lost the doubles point. USC took control of singles play and swept the Utes to post the shut out.
David Mercier and Daniel Carlsson won their doubles match at the No. 2 position, 8-6. Nicholas Yip and Kevin Zenger lost from the No. 1 spot, 8-5, while Tyler Poulson and Corrie Scheepers fell, 8-4. The Trojans won each of the singles matches in straight sets.
Utah will next be in action on Mar. 22-24 at BYU, where they will open up conference play against the Cougars, Air Force and New Mexico.
