SAN DIEGO, CALIF. - The University of Utah started off with a bang by winning two-of-three doubles matches to win the doubles point in the men's tennis match against 50th-ranked San Diego on Monday, Mar. 12. The Toreros rebounded by winning five-of-six singles matches to defeat the Utes, 5-2.
David Mercier and Daniel Carlsson won their doubles match playing from the No. 2 spot, while Tyler Poulson and Corrie Scheepers won from the No. 3 to give Utah the doubles point. Poulson proceeded to give the Utes their only singles victory from the No. 5 position.
The Utes, who are ranked 64th in the nation, are 6-4 in dual matches this season. They will take on Southern California Mar. 13 and will begin conference play on Mar. 22 at Brigham Young.
